The Second Severn Crossing
Hearing the news that the UK government is reducing the tolls on the new Severn bridge by 20% and plans to abolish them completely from 2019 got me to thinking about the bridge. Its something I've photographed a few times and despite its size and the muddy brown waters of the Severn its an interesting architectural feature.
The river Severn has the third highest tidal range in the World, as much as 15m! That is just awesome. :-) So, the waters flow up or down the estuary at incredible speed. For photographers wishing to blur water movement nothing but a normal landscape exposure is needed. So, no messing about with Big Stoppers or the like :-)
This photograph along with most others is best view large! So, click the image... It was originally shot as colour, but monochrome helped simplify the photograph, removing otherwise distracting lights, mud flats and skies.
