About my prints

Photographic prints are not something I mass-produce or sell in volume, each is a custom print for a client, each is embossed with my logo and each is provided with a certificate of authenticity. As such I’m happy to customise the border around each image and adjust any text printed immediately below the image. Prints are signed by myself on the front or rear.

By default prints of my own images have a 2 cm margin on their left, top and right-side with a 3 cm margin at the bottom. For large prints, prints larger than A2, the above sizes are increased by 1 cm. Just below the photograph on the left is printed the name of the photograph. For example ‘Severn Gold’. To the lower right is, ‘Andy Gawthrope Photography’.

All prints are made using our Canon Prograf Pro-1000 or Pro-2100 inkjet printers with genuine Canon ink here at Andy Gawthrope Photography. Once printed, each print is inspected for defects and left to dry for at least 3hrs. Prints are then carefully covered with soft tissue paper, rolled and placed inside a medium or large diameter cardboard postal tube to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.

The paper type (Semi-gloss or Matt) chosen for a print is one of the most important elements. Prints of my own images will be on the paper-type I feel best suits the image. When printing images from others I’ll advise what paper-type works best given a discussion regarding its purpose and intended hanging-location.

For most prints I use one of the following papers by UK company, Fotospeed.

Platinum Baryta

Smooth Cotton

NST Bright White

  • 315 gsm, 100% cotton, fine art paper with a very gentle texture.

If you would like a framed print, we offer a custom-made framing service to meet your need whether that be for a domestic wall or a commercial location. We offer a wide selection of frames, mount boards, glass and fixings each of which can be selected individually to provide a custom and stunning picture. Due to the difficulty/cost of shipping framed prints so that they arrive in perfect condition, framed prints should be either collected or delivered in-person. All framing is outsourced to a trusted local supplier.
